ABOUT THE NONPROFIT RESOURCE LIBRARY 2025 UPDATES
After consulting with staff from the Nonprofit Commons board, it was determined that additional adjustments could be made to the Community Resource Library to help it serve the community clients. Links to reference sites needed updating, and most importantly, the Nonprofit Commons requested that there be easy in-world access to all of their publicly available archives as part of the Library.
Shannon Broden (Kreatya Shannon in Second Life) from Community Virtual Library, along with Joyce Bettencourt (Rhiannon Chatnoir) from Nonprofit Commons, collaborated over the course of six months to get Phase 1 of the Library changes implemented. You can learn more about what was one at the blog for Nonprofit Commons.
Additionally, you can see the recording of the presentation done for Virtual Worlds MOOC 2025, where Shannon Broden and Joyce Bettencourt talked in depth about the process.
About the Nonprofit resource Library 2018 remodel
The Nonprofit Commons in Second Life has had a library for many years, and by 2018 it was ready for a makeover!
Re-designed and built by Bree Theodore (jodielandon in Second Life) and opened in December 2018, this library hosts a growing collection of resources relevant to nonprofits. This includes information about grant-seeking, managing volunteers, and many other “how-to” guides on the many aspects of running and participating in a nonprofit business.

ABOUT NONPROFIT COMMONS
Did you know that virtual worlds are great places to base nonprofits from all over the world? Indeed, there is an entire Nonprofit Commons in Second Life (est. 2007) dedicated to connecting nonprofits and helping them grow. CVL and its parent organization (Metaverse Libraries) have been part of the Nonprofit Commons in Second Life for years.
It is free to join, attend events–there is even free office space available!
